Influencer marketing is all the rage these days, with a growing market size and most brands planning to spend at least $10,000 on their influencer campaigns this year.

But to better understand the influencer marketing sector, we must also look at the other end of the spectrum. More specifically, the question we must ask is: How much do influencers make?

How much money do influencers make: influencer income in 2022

According to a recent report on influencer salary, 26% of influencers earn less than $1,000 a year. This number includes only income earned from their content published in their capacity as an influencer.

The second-largest influencer income range is $1,000 to $10,000. Just over one in four (25.51%) influencers earn this amount annually from their content creation work for brands. This also means that around half (51.53%) of all influencers earn a maximum of $10,000 per year.

This is followed by the $10,000 to $25,000 range, which 15.94% of influencers fall into, and the $50,000 to $100,000 range, earned by 11.35% of influencers.

The fifth-largest influencer income range is $25,000 to $50,000. Just over one in 10 (10.84%) influencers make this amount from their influencer content every year.

Here are the other influencer income ranges and their shares:

  • $100,000 to $500,000: 7.4%
  • $500,000 to $1 million: 1.53%
  • $1 million and above: 1.4%

With the exception of the $25,000 to $50,000 and $50,000 to $100,000 income ranges, this study analyzing influencers’ salaries in 2022 shows a general inverse relationship between the number of influencers that fall into a particular income range and the income earned. That is—the higher the income, the lower the number of influencers earning it.

Breaking down this data on influencer salary further, we see that the amount of money they make depends on the amount of experience they have. In general, the longer they’ve been working as an influencer, the higher their income.

For instance, there are no influencers with under one year of experience in the survey making more than $1 million annually. This number rises to 0.57% for influencers with one to two years of experience, and further to 0.68% for those with two to three years of experience. 1.96% of influencers with three to four years of experience earn $1 million annually.
